Thank you Continental Ski & Bike!
The only challenge like it in the WORLD!!! Who will win? Fat tire bikers or skinny skiers? Here’s how this 20 km pursuit race works: Cross country skiers will be chasing down Fat tire (or mountain) bikers. How far ahead the bikers start will be determined race day.
The goal is to strategically time it so the top athletes finish at the same time. It's a duel to the end!!
The 20 km, two 10km loops, is relatively flat, widely groomed, and fast. The race will start and finish on Boulder Lake (just outside Duluth). WHO WINS? The group (BIKERS OR SKIERS) with fastest average time of the top 10 finishers will be the winner. Everyone in the winning group will receive a free Brewhouse Ale for the post race gathering Saturday night!
Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 overall in each race!
All athletes will receive free chili at the Island Lake Inn immediately following the race and a chance to win great door prizes.
So, who will it be... fat bikes or skinny skis?
Disclaimer: We can neither confirm nor deny that there may be Gladiator Bikers or the Nordic Lords present and wreaking havoc!
Note: If the snow conditions are too poor for skiing (this is not likely unless Thor and Loki have a heated battle out at Boulder Lake and melt the 35+ inches out there now), the bike race will still go on. So skiers, bring your mountain bike (or borrow a fat tire bike) and join in on the fun.
